At PharmAccess, we work towards inclusive, quality health systems in sub-Saharan Africa. Highlights of our progress in 2023 towards achieving that include:
- 24 million people had access to health insurance via PharmAccess-supported programs,
- SafeCare signed up an additional 667 facilities reaching an extra 1.1 million patients, taking the total to over 6.5 million,
- The Medical Credit Fund (MCF) increased the number of loans issued to a record total of 1,514, doubling down on supporting healthcare providers during turbulent economic times.
We focus on unlocking a future where data and personal connectivity act as a lever of trust, leading to cost-effectiveness, smarter decision-making, and the use of artificial intelligence to improve health outcomes – especially for the vulnerable and the poor. In 2023, we took the first steps in creating a true “data commons” by demonstrating the technical feasibility of a shared health record for mothers in the Hanang district of Tanzania, increasing the agency of healthcare providers to improve maternity care.
