Joep was a true hero in the world of health and development, always ahead of his time
Upon the announcement of the Joep Lange Institute and the Joep Lange Chair and Fellows Program, former US President Bill Clinton offered a statement on the importance of carrying forward Professor Joep Lange’s legacy.
“Joep was a true hero in the world of health and development, always ahead of his time, always a driving force for innovation and inclusive economics. He and his team at PharmAccess were among the earliest partners of the Clinton Health Access Initiative, helping to dramatically increase HIV/AIDS treatment in South Africa and Tanzania at a time when most people thought it was impossible to do so.”
“I am very grateful for the creation of the Joep Lange Institute, so that his legacy will live on. The greatest tribute we can pay to him and Jacqueline is to see their very important work through, right to the end.”
